Expand World Heritage Areas

Labor will support the investigation and nomination of 3 key iconic areas for future World Heritage listing: Cape York Peninsula; the West Kimberley region; and the Daintree Rainforest (cultural values).

Labor will give these areas international recognition, promoting pride among local communities, generating more business for local tourism operators and giving the environments greater protection.

This will be done in cooperation with traditional owners, State and Territory Governments and other stakeholders.

Only a Labor Government can be trusted with the protection of our World Heritage Areas and the protection of our beautiful and diverse environment.
